With over 30 years’ experience in Oxford’s most prestigious kitchens, Catering by Simon delivers refined, high-quality catering for weddings and events across Oxfordshire and beyond.

Built on a foundation of classical training, real kitchen experience, and a passion for doing things properly, our approach is simple — exceptional food, seamless service, and a standard that never slips.

A Career Built in Kitchens

Simon began his culinary career at just 15, starting his apprenticeship at St John’s College, Oxford. From those early foundations, he developed the skills, discipline and attention to detail that continue to define his work today.

He went on to build his career within some of Oxfordshire’s most prestigious schools and colleges, including St Edward’s School, The Dragon School, and the University of Oxford colleges such as Lady Margaret Hall, Jesus College and Brasenose College. Over time, Simon progressed through the ranks to become Catering Manager within the University’s contract catering sector.

In 2008, Simon had the opportunity to work alongside renowned chefs Gennaro Contaldo and Jamie Oliver during the opening of the flagship Jamie’s Italian in Oxford — an experience that further shaped his approach to food, combining simplicity, quality ingredients and confident execution.

Building the Business

In 2010, Simon launched Pigging Perfect, delivering high-quality pig roasts across Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties while continuing to lead kitchens as Sous Chef at St Edward’s School.

As demand grew, so did the vision.

In 2015, Catering by Simon Ltd was established — a business now recognised for its reliability, consistency and high standards across every event it delivers.

Simon has catered for a wide range of prestigious events, including Wadham College Ball (serving up to 1,500 guests), Cornbury Music Festival, Riverside Music Festival, the annual Witney Beer Festival, and many private and corporate events across Oxfordshire and beyond.

Beyond Events

Alongside his events business, Simon owned and operated the award-winning Willow Tree Café in Kidlington from 2016 to 2025, building a strong local reputation for quality food and consistent service.

He now brings that same ethos to The Lemon Tree Café in Yarnton — continuing his commitment to delivering great food in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

Today

Catering by Simon focuses on weddings and bespoke events, delivering refined menus, seamless service and memorable dining experiences.
